4 Minute Warning
Radiohead · 2007Radiohead recorded “4 Minute Warning” during the 2005–2007 In Rainbows sessions, working at Halswell House, Tottenham House, the Hospital Club in London and the band’s Oxfordshire studio. Nigel Godrich produced, engineered and mixed the recording with Radiohead, with Bob Ludwig mastering the In Rainbows material. Released in 2007 on In Rainbows Disk 2, it formed part of the bonus material issued with the limited-edition discbox after the band’s pay-what-you-want digital release. Its calm, ominous arrangement extended the album’s emotional palette and gave a long-circulating live-era song an official studio release. The track remains a valued deep cut from the In Rainbows period and one of the most fully realised songs on Disk 2. Its association with the album’s unconventional release campaign keeps it tied to one of Radiohead’s most influential late-2000s moments.
