Oxford Comma

Vampire Weekend · 2007
Recording

Vampire Weekend recorded Oxford Comma during the sessions for their self-titled debut album, with Ezra Koenig, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Baio and Christopher Tomson joined by Jeff Curtin on hand drums and shaker. Rostam Batmanglij produced the track. Oxford Comma was released as a single in 2008 and gave Vampire Weekend their first UK Top 40 entry. Pitchfork placed it among the best tracks of 2008, highlighting its conversational writing and melodic directness. Oxford Comma remains one of Vampire Weekend's defining early songs and a durable example of the band's literate, tightly arranged debut-era sound. Its use in television and film helped keep it visible beyond the album's original indie audience.
