Double Barrel
Dave & Ansel Collins · 2007Recording
Dave Barker and Ansel Collins recorded the track in Kingston, Jamaica, with Winston Riley producing it for his Techniques label. It was cut as their breakthrough collaboration and issued as a Jamaican single before its international release. The single became one of reggae’s earliest international crossover hits and reached number 1 in the UK in 1971. It helped establish Dave & Ansel Collins as a major Jamaican duo beyond the island. The track remains a classic early reggae anthem and a touchstone for later bass-heavy, toasting-driven records. It has been sampled and cited repeatedly in reggae histories as an influential crossover record.
