Soul Rebel
Bob Marley & The Wailers · 1970Recorded in November 1970 at Randy’s Studio 17 in Kingston, Jamaica, with Bob Marley on lead vocal and Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh on harmony vocals; Lee “Scratch” Perry produced and Errol Thompson engineered the session. The song came from Marley’s first major collaboration with Lee “Scratch” Perry and was cut during the same Kingston sessions that produced the classic early Wailers material later issued on Soul Rebels. It helped establish the stark, militant sound and rebel persona associated with Marley’s roots-era breakthrough. “Soul Rebel” became one of the best-known early Wailers songs and remained a staple of later Marley anthologies and reissues. Its title and theme helped закреп the “soul rebel” image that stayed central to Marley’s cultural legacy.
