You Don't Love Me (No, No, No) [Extended Mix]
Dawn Penn · 1994Recording
Dawn Penn’s 1994 revival of the song grew out of her 1992 appearance at a Studio One anniversary show with Steely & Clevie. The version was re-recorded in Kingston at Studio One and issued from the Steely & Clevie project that led to the Big Beat release. Released in 1994, the track turned a Jamaican rocksteady favorite into an international comeback hit for Dawn Penn. It became a top 10 UK single and reached the Billboard Hot 100, reintroducing her voice to a much wider audience. The song remained Dawn Penn’s signature recording and one of the most recognizable reggae crossover hits of the 1990s. It has been widely covered, sampled, and cited as a major bridge between classic Studio One reggae and later pop and dancehall audiences.
