Take You There

Recorded in 1993 and 1994 at Greene St. Recording in New York for Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's second album The Main Ingredient. Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth produced the track, with Pete Rock providing the beat and scratches and C.L. Smooth performing the lead vocal. Released by Elektra in 1994 as a single from The Main Ingredient, it reached number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song carried the duo's polished soul-and-jazz sample style into their final major single run before their mid-1990s split. It remains one of the duo's best-known later records and a concise example of Pete Rock's warm, filtered production style. Its Keni Burke sample and smooth hook keep it central to retrospectives on The Main Ingredient.
