How I Could Just Kill A Man
Cypress Hill · 1991Recording
Recorded during the sessions for Cypress Hill’s debut album at Image Recording Studios in Los Angeles between August 1990 and May 1991. DJ Muggs produced the track, with B-Real and Sen Dog on vocals and Muggs handling the group’s signature production style. It was Cypress Hill’s debut single and the song that introduced the group to a wider audience in 1991. It received heavy urban and college-radio play and helped drive the single to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles chart and No. 77 on the Hot 100. The track remains Cypress Hill’s best-known early song and a defining record of their rise. It has endured through covers, especially Rage Against the Machine’s version, and through repeated use in films, games, and hip-hop retrospectives.
