Recording

Recorded for Q-Tip's solo debut Amplified at The Hit Factory in New York, with Q-Tip and Jay Dee producing for The Ummah. Jason Groucott, Ken Duro Ifill, Glenn Marchese, and Steve Souder handled engineering and mixing duties on the album sessions. Released from Amplified during Q-Tip's first solo campaign after A Tribe Called Quest's breakup, it presented his partnership with Jay Dee in a more streamlined solo setting. The track became part of the album's run of videos and singles around the turn of 2000. It remains a noted Amplified cut for its Jay Dee production and layered use of Joe Pass, ESG, and the Vibrettes samples. The song has remained visible through sample scholarship and retrospectives on Q-Tip's early solo work.
