Gold Digger

Kanye West feat. Jamie Foxx · 2005
Recording

Recorded for Late Registration in 2005 and finalized at Sony Music Studios in New York City. Jamie Foxx delivered the opening vocal interpolation of Ray Charles’s “I Got a Woman,” and Kanye West completed the track as a solo production. Released as the second single from Late Registration, it became a defining crossover hit for Kanye West. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and established him as a dominant pop artist beyond hip-hop. It remains one of Kanye West’s signature songs and one of the most recognizable rap singles of the 2000s. Its hook, sample-based construction, and crossover success kept it a staple of radio, compilations, and setlists for years.
