The Humpty Dance (Mini-Hump Radix Mix)

It was built from the Sex Packets recording sessions used by Digital Underground’s 1990 debut, tracked at Alpha & Omega Recording Studio in San Francisco, Hayes Recording Studio in Tampa Bay, J-Jam Record, and Starlight Sound Studio in Richmond. The song centers on Shock G’s Humpty Hump persona and was released through Tommy Boy. The track was Digital Underground’s breakthrough hit and the group’s biggest commercial success, pushing Sex Packets into the mainstream. It reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 7 on the R&B chart, and No. 1 on Billboard’s Rap Singles chart. The song became one of the most sampled hip-hop records of its era and remained a defining Humpty Hump performance for later compilations and retrospective coverage. Its goofy, party-starting hook and dance-floor appeal kept it culturally recognizable long after its initial run.
