Recording

Recorded at Alpha Omega in San Francisco for Digital Underground's 1988 debut single Underwater Rimes / Your Life's a Cartoon. Shock G wrote, produced, and performed the track during the group's early Oakland and Bay Area period with Chopmaster J and Kenny-K. Released by TNT and Macola in 1988, it was Digital Underground's first single and the record that led to the group's Tommy Boy deal. The track introduced the group's comic, P-Funk-informed style before their breakthrough with Doowutchyalike and The Humpty Dance. It remains an important pre-Sex Packets release and the earliest widely documented Digital Underground single. The later Sex Packets remix keeps it tied to the group's debut-album mythology and Shock G's early production identity.
