Schoolly D · 1997
Recording

Recorded for Mekon’s 1997 Wall Of Sound single in London, with Schoolly D featured and work credited to John Gosling and Robert Hill at Mekon Studios and Precinct 23. The remix appeared as “Skool’s Out (Deck Wrecka Tufnell Parkside Remix)” on the original 12-inch release. The track sat in the mid-1990s British big beat crossover around Mekon’s Schoolly D collaboration and gave Schoolly D a dance-floor-facing UK single. It reached the UK Official Singles Chart and also appeared on the UK Dance Singles Chart. It remained a sought-after cult remix from Wall Of Sound’s late-1990s run and was later recompiled on mix CDs and record-store listings. The track is still remembered as part of the Schoolly D/Mekon crossover era rather than as a standalone charting hit.
