Theme From S.W.A.T.

Recorded in Los Angeles by the studio ensemble Rhythm Heritage for an instrumental adaptation of Barry De Vorzon's television theme for S.W.A.T. The session featured leading West Coast session musicians under the direction of producer Steve Barri. Released in 1975, the single transformed a television theme into a major pop hit and became one of the defining instrumental records of the decade. Its combination of orchestral arrangements, driving rhythm section and television tie-in appeal gave it broad crossover success. The recording remains one of the most recognizable television-theme adaptations ever released and has been widely used in film, television and popular culture. Its rhythm breaks and brass-driven arrangement have also attracted sampling and continued interest from DJs and collectors.
