Recording

Recorded during the 1990 and 1991 Breaking Atoms sessions at Homeboy Studio, Power Play Studios, and Libra Digital in New York. Large Professor performed alongside Nas, Akinyele, and Joe Fatal, with Main Source producing and Anton Pukshansky and Tony Papamichael engineering the album sessions. Released by Wild Pitch in 1991 on Breaking Atoms and as the B-side to Just Hangin' Out, it became a landmark posse cut. The track is historically important as Nas's first documented appearance on record. It remains one of Main Source's most important album cuts and a foundational moment in Nas's recording career. Its verses by Nas, Akinyele, and Joe Fatal have kept it central to histories of early-1990s New York rap.
