Recording

Recorded and mixed at Pajama Studios during the sessions for Blackalicious' debut album Nia. Gift of Gab performed the vocals, with Chief Xcel producing and arranging the track as part of the Quannum Projects circle. Released on Nia in 1999 by Mo' Wax and Quannum Projects, it became one of the album's standout lyrical showcases. The track helped underline Blackalicious' reputation for intricate rhyming and expansive independent hip-hop production at the end of the 1990s. It remains a recognized Blackalicious album cut and a frequent reference point for Gift of Gab's dense, rapid-fire delivery. Retrospectives on Nia continue to single out the track as an example of Chief Xcel's heavier production style.
