Taboo (feat. Shola Ama)

Recorded as a 1999 single by Glamma Kid featuring Shola Ama, with Karl Gordon credited as producer. The original release was issued on WEA in the UK. Released on 5 April 1999 and entering the UK chart on 17 April 1999, the single became Glamma Kid’s second UK top 10 hit, peaking at No. 10. It also reached No. 1 on the UK Dance Singles Chart, helping establish him as a major late-1990s UK garage and dancehall crossover act. The song stayed notable for its strong UK garage afterlife, especially through the MJ Cole full vocal mix, which became a scene favorite. Its interpolation of Sade’s “The Sweetest Taboo” kept it recognizable beyond its initial chart run.
