EPMD · 1988

Recording

Recorded in 1988 during the Unfinished Business sessions at North Shore Soundworks and Powerplay Studio. The single was produced by EPMD, with DJ Scratch providing scratches. It was the lead single from Unfinished Business and the album’s only charting single. It reached No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Singles chart and No. 23 on Hot R&B Singles. The track stayed in circulation through a 2001 cover by Beanie Sigel and Memphis Bleek on The Reason. It remains one of EPMD’s best-known singles from their late-1980s run.
