Here I Come
Barrington Levy · 1985Recording
Recorded in 1984 at Channel One Studios in Kingston, Jamaica, and at Easy Street in London, with Paul "Jah Screw" Love producing and mixing alongside Geoffrey Chung; the album was backed by the Roots Radics. The original LP appeared on Time 1 Records in 1985. The title track became Barrington Levy’s crossover hit from the 1985 album Here I Come and reached the UK Singles Chart. It peaked at No. 41 and spent four weeks on the chart. "Here I Come" remained one of Levy’s signature recordings and was later sampled by Rebel MC on "Tribal Base". It also reached a wider pop audience through later reissues and soundtrack use, including Grand Theft Auto.
