Recording

Bronx Dogs issued “Mixed Blood (Mambo Roc)” as a Marble Bar 12-inch in 1999, with Bronx Dogs credited as producer and arranger. The record couples the A-side with “Unidentified,” and later releases preserved the same track listing. The single was a club-oriented breakbeat release on Marble Bar and was singled out by Music Week as a “potential party anthem” with a singalong chorus. It circulated through dance retailers and DJ platforms as part of the label’s 1999 run. The track remained in circulation through later digital listings and compilation appearances, keeping it accessible well beyond the original 12-inch run. Its hook is built from samples of Nico Gomez and His Afro Percussion Inc.’s “Lupita” and The Chakachas’ “Un Rayo Del Sol,” which helped give it lasting recognition among sample-oriented dance listeners.
