Tribute to Jazzy Jay
Bronx Dogs · 1998Recording
The track was issued as a 1997 UK 12-inch by Bronx Dogs, the duo of Richard Sen and Paul Eve. The original release credits DJ Regal and Richard Sen as producers, with the title track engineered at Studio 9 and mixed at The Blue Room. It was a breakbeat single built around older funk and hip-hop references, and it became the Bronx Dogs track most closely associated with the project. The record also drew enough attention to warrant a DJ Harvey remix in 1998. The track remained in circulation through the 1998 Harvey remix and later appeared on compilation releases such as The Gallery: Modern Masters, Volume 1. It continued to be referenced by record dealers and mix-discographies as a Bronx Dogs standout.
