Love Like This Before

Recorded for Faith Evans’s second studio album, Keep the Faith, and issued as its lead single on Bad Boy Records in 1998. The track was written by Evans with Ron “Amen-Ra” Lawrence, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Clarence Emery, and Schon Crawford, and the production was handled by Lawrence and Combs. As the lead single from Keep the Faith, it reintroduced Evans after a long gap between albums and became the record that announced the project. It became her highest-charting solo single in the United States at the time and was widely received as one of the album’s strongest uptempo cuts. The song remains one of Faith Evans’s signature hits and a defining example of late-1990s Bad Boy R&B. Its Chic sample and polished crossover sound have kept it in rotation through compilations, remasters, and later sampling and cover culture.
