Recording

Blackstreet recorded 'No Diggity' featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen for their second album Another Level, produced by Teddy Riley along with William Stewart and Chauncey Hannibal, with the track built around a sampled piano loop from Bill Withers's 'Grandma's Hands'. Released in 1996 on Interscope Records, 'No Diggity' reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the defining R&B-hip-hop crossover records of the decade, marking a transitional moment as the New Jack Swing sound that Teddy Riley pioneered evolved into the more hip-hop-centric R&B of the late 1990s. The track won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group and is consistently ranked among the greatest R&B songs of all time, with its piano sample and structure becoming one of the most widely recognised and frequently cited recordings in modern popular music history.
