Horn Song
The Don · 1998Recording
DJ Pierre recorded the track in 1998 under his alias The Don as an instrumental built around a horn riff and a Candido sample. It later became the foundation for Barbara Tucker’s “Everybody Dance (The Horn Song).” Issued as a Strictly Rhythm club record in 1998, it became a recognizable house anthem in the New York dance scene. Its central riff was strong enough to be repurposed immediately into a vocal single for Barbara Tucker. The track’s horn hook was reused in Barbara Tucker’s “Everybody Dance (The Horn Song)” and later sampled in DJ Jean’s “The Launch.” It remains a touchstone for late-1990s house built on a minimal, instantly identifiable riff.
