Recording

Recorded by Cuban percussionist Candido Camero during sessions for the album Thousand Finger Man, featuring a large ensemble blending Latin percussion, jazz-funk and dance-oriented arrangements. The extended version emerged from the late-1970s disco remix culture that expanded key club tracks for DJs. The track became a major underground dancefloor record and one of the most celebrated Latin-funk crossover releases of the disco era. Its relentless groove and percussion-driven arrangement made it a favourite in New York clubs and among early disco DJs. The recording became a foundational rare-groove and hip-hop source record, widely sampled by rap, house and electronic producers. It remains one of Candido's signature recordings and a staple of crate-digging culture.
