Dancin' & Prancin'

Candido · —
Recording

Candido recorded Dancin' & Prancin' in New York in 1979, with sessions at Power Station, Blank Tapes Inc., and RPM Studios. Joe Cain produced the album, with engineering by Bill Davis, Bob Blank, and Scott Litt and Candido Camero leading on congas and percussion. Dancin' & Prancin' placed the veteran Afro-Cuban percussionist within Salsoul's late-1970s dance-label catalogue. The title track became a club-oriented highlight of the album even though Jingo was the charting single from the same release. The track remained a specialist DJ and reissue-culture favorite from Candido's Salsoul period. Later reissues and critical writing framed the album as a late example of Salsoul's percussion-driven New York dance sound.
