Motivation

Atmosfear recorded Motivation for release on Elite and MCA in 1980, backed with the instrumental track Extract. The record was produced by Andy Sojka and Jerry Pike, core figures in the group's Brit-funk production team. The single followed Atmosfear's UK chart breakthrough with Dancing in Outer Space and reinforced the group's place in the early-1980s Brit-funk club scene. Its 12-inch format and companion track Extract made it a DJ-oriented release rather than a mainstream pop hit. Motivation remains a respected Atmosfear club record and was later reissued for dance-floor and collector audiences. Its association with Brit-funk DJ culture kept it visible alongside the group's better-known Dancing in Outer Space.
