Recorded in Detroit at United Sound Systems, with Oliver Cheatham co-writing the track with Kevin McCord and the production credited to A.D.K. (Al Hudson, Dave Roberson, and Kevin McCord). It was issued as the first single from Saturday Night in 1983. The single became Oliver Cheatham’s first chart success and his signature release, reaching No. 38 on the UK Singles Chart and No. 37 on the Billboard R&B chart. It quickly established him as a notable voice in early-1980s dance and R&B crossover. The track remained a dance-floor staple and was revived by later house and pop releases that sampled or interpolated it, including Room 5’s 2003 hit "Make Luv" and Michael Gray’s "The Weekend." Its opening vocal hook has kept it in circulation across club culture and film use.
