Everybody Loves the Sunshine
Full Intention · 1998Recording
Full Intention’s 1998 single was a house remake of Roy Ayers’ "Everybody Loves the Sunshine," issued as a UK 12-inch on Sugar Daddy. The release was credited to the duo Michael Gray and Jon Pearn, with a Full Intention mix alongside a Sugar Daddy mix. The track translated a well-known soul-jazz song into late-1990s club-house language and was written up in the trade press as a strong disco-house cover. It reached the UK Singles Chart at number 80 and stayed on the chart for one week. It remains one of Full Intention’s signature records and is still referenced in the duo’s discographies and club-era retrospectives. The song’s continued circulation on compilations and streaming services keeps it in the house-music canon.
