Hallelujah Anyway

Hallelujah Anyway was written by Monica Cole Pollard and first released by Candi Staton on the 2002 album Proverbs 31 Woman. The later club single centred on Staton's original vocal and included remixes by Larse, Director's Cut, David Penn, Ashley Beedle, Moplen and Dr Packer. The song became a major European dance record after its 2012 Defected release, led by Larse's vocal mix. It gave Staton another late-career club anthem after You Got the Love and connected her gospel repertoire to contemporary house audiences. Hallelujah Anyway remained a Defected and Glitterbox catalogue staple and received further remix editions in 2018 and 2024. The song was certified gold in Belgium, confirming its sustained European club and radio reach.
