California Love

Recorded in October 1995 at Can-Am Studios in Tarzana, Los Angeles, during the All Eyez on Me sessions. Dr. Dre produced and mixed the track, with Roger Troutman featured on the hook and 2Pac delivering the lead verses. Released as 2Pac’s first Death Row single, it became a defining West Coast anthem and a major commercial breakthrough. It also marked one of the era’s most visible pairings of 2Pac and Dr. Dre, helping drive the album cycle for All Eyez on Me. The song remains one of 2Pac’s signature recordings and one of the best-known hip-hop singles of the 1990s. Its hook, sample base, and West Coast identity have kept it in constant rotation, and it is regularly referenced, performed, and sampled in later popular culture.
