It’s a Demo

Recorded in 1986 at Marley Marls home studio in Queensbridge, the track began as a demo by Kool G Rap and DJ Polo after they were brought to Marley by Mr Magic. Marley Marl produced the single and quickly introduced it on WBLS Rap Attack. Released by Cold Chillin in 1986, Its a Demo was the debut single by Kool G Rap and DJ Polo and brought them into the Juice Crew circle. The record established G Rap as a formidable lyricist before the Road to the Riches album. The track remains a foundational Kool G Rap record and an early showcase of his dense rhyme style. Its later album remix and compilation appearances kept it central to his origin story and to Juice Crew history.
