Trouble Funk · 1986
Recording

Released in 1986 as a Trouble Funk 12-inch tied to the film Good To Go, with the live side cut recorded in Montreux in July 1986 and engineered by David Richards. The single was produced by Trouble Funk and executive-produced by Maxx Kidd. The track extended Trouble Funk’s visibility beyond Washington, D.C. by connecting the group’s go-go sound to the Good To Go soundtrack and to UK single sales. It reached No. 79 on the UK singles chart and spent five weeks on the chart. ‘Still Smokin’’ remained one of Trouble Funk’s best-known recordings and continued to circulate through reissues and later covers, including Kindness’s use of the song. It also stayed embedded in the group’s catalog as a durable live favorite and soundtrack-associated cut.
