The Bomb (These Sounds Fall Into My Mind)
The Bucketheads · 1995Recording
Produced by Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez for The Bucketheads, with songwriting credits to Gonzalez, Danny Seraphine, and David “Hawk” Wolinski. The track was built around a sample of Chicago’s “Street Player” and was originally released by Henry Street Music, then licensed in the UK to Positiva/EMI. It became a major UK crossover hit in 1995, reaching No. 5 on the Official Singles Chart and No. 2 on the Official Dance Singles Chart. The record helped push a sample-driven house sound into the pop mainstream. The track has remained a dance classic and later ranked at No. 48 on Slant Magazine’s list of the 100 greatest dance songs of all time. Its Chicago sample and anthem-like arrangement kept it in circulation long after its original chart run.
