Woman To Woman

Recorded during 1971–1972 sessions in Los Angeles and London for Joe Cocker's third studio album, the track features Cocker alongside the Chris Stainton Band. Written by Cocker and keyboardist Chris Stainton, the recording was produced by Denny Cordell and Nigel Thomas. Originally released in 1972 on the album Joe Cocker, titled Something to Say in Europe, 'Woman to Woman' became a charting single in its own right. Its driving piano riff, brass arrangement and rhythmic groove helped the song reach number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track gained renewed prominence through its distinctive piano and horn riff, which became a foundation for hip-hop sampling, most famously in 2Pac and Dr. Dre's 'California Love'. Its appearance on the Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas soundtrack also introduced the recording to a new generation.
