I Like Funky Music

Recorded in 1979 for Uncle Louie's Here, the sole album by the Walter Murphy and Gene Pistilli-led group Uncle Louie. Murphy and Pistilli formed the band with brothers Eddie and Frank Dillard, moving Murphy's disco background into a more funk-based setting. Released by Marlin and TK Disco in 1979, I Like Funky Music was one of three singles drawn from Uncle Louie's Here. The record sat within TK's late-disco catalogue and followed the group's better-charting Full-Tilt Boogie. The track remains a collector-recognized Uncle Louie cut from the final years of the TK disco network. Its later rediscovery rests mainly on the group's connection to Walter Murphy and the harder funk direction of Uncle Louie's Here.
