Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now

McFadden & Whitehead · 1979
Recording

Recorded in Philadelphia at Sigma Sound Studios with Gene McFadden and John Whitehead, with Jack Faith handling the orchestration and the Philadelphia session musicians associated with the Philadelphia International sound. It was cut as the duo’s signature single for their debut album. Released in 1979, it became one of Philadelphia soul’s best-known disco-era anthems and a major crossover hit. Its upbeat message and polished production helped define the late-1970s dancefloor sound. The song remained a durable party and sports anthem, with recurring use in films, television, and public events. Its title refrain became one of the most recognizable hooks in late-20th-century pop and dance music.
