Recorded in Philadelphia by The Salsoul Orchestra under the direction of arranger, composer and vibraphonist Vincent Montana Jr. The session featured the large ensemble of studio musicians associated with the Salsoul label and its orchestral dance-music sound. Released in 1977, the recording reinterpreted a well-known contemporary soul hit through the lush orchestration and extended groove format that defined the Salsoul Orchestra. It reinforced the group's position as one of the leading orchestral dance ensembles of the disco era. The track remains a respected example of the Philadelphia dance sound and the orchestral approach that influenced later disco, house and dance music producers.
