The Prodigy · 1991Recording
It was recorded at C.W.S. Studios in Braintree, Essex, with Liam Howlett credited as composer and producer, and Chaz Stevens credited as an additional producer and mixer on the original release. Released in 1991, it was The Prodigy’s debut single and a breakthrough rave record that pushed the group into the UK Top 3 while drawing mixed critical reaction. It also helped raise the profile of the emerging UK rave sound. It remains a landmark early rave single and a defining track of The Prodigy’s catalog, later remembered as one of the records that helped bring the scene beyond the underground. Its success is also linked to the band’s later rise and to influence on artists such as Moby.
