Khaki Suit

Khaki Suit

Damian Marley · 2005
Recording

Recorded for Welcome to Jamrock with Damian Marley and Stephen Marley credited as producers, and James Caruso and Marc Lee credited as recording engineers and mixer. The track features Bounty Killer and Eek-A-Mouse, with Damian Marley programming drums and Stephen Marley contributing bass and percussion. The track appeared on Welcome to Jamrock, the 2005 album that made Damian Marley a major international reggae figure, and it brought together three generations of Jamaican dancehall voices in one recording. It was issued on the album through Universal Records and Tuff Gong Records in the U.S. release context. Khaki Suit remains notable for its clear lineage to classic dancehall, built around a sample of Eek-A-Mouse's “Anarexol.” Its guest pairing with Bounty Killer and Eek-A-Mouse keeps it as a reference point for later roots-and-dancehall collaborations.
