The Jam

Recorded in 1995 and 1996 at Battery Studios in New York for Beats Rhymes And Life, The Jam featured Q Tip, Phife Dawg and guest vocals by Consequence. The track was produced by The Ummah, the production unit of Q Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jay Dee. Released on Jive in 1996 as part of Beats Rhymes And Life, The Jam also became the title track of a 1997 UK EP. The EP reached number 61 on the UK Official Singles Chart. The track remains part of A Tribe Called Quests transitional mid 1990s period and an early widely released example of The Ummah production sound. Its later EP release kept it visible beyond the album campaign.
