Electric Relaxation

Recorded for Midnight Marauders at the group’s New York City album sessions, which took place at Battery Studios, Platinum Island Studios, and Sorcerer Sound. The track was produced by A Tribe Called Quest and built around Ronnie Foster’s “Mystic Brew” sample. Released in 1994 on Jive Records as the second single from Midnight Marauders, it became one of the album’s best-known cuts and a standout example of the group’s relaxed, melodic chemistry. It also later served as the opening theme for The Wayans Bros., widening its pop-cultural reach. It remains a defining Tribe classic and one of the most recognizable 1990s rap love songs, frequently cited for its smooth production and enduring appeal. Its sample source and TV-theme use kept it in circulation long after release.
