Recorded in 1991 during The Low End Theory sessions in New York. A Tribe Called Quest produced the track, with the original source idea supplied by Pete Rock and recreated by Q-Tip for the released version. Released by Jive in November 1991 as the second single from The Low End Theory, it reached number 19 on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. The record helped crystallize the group's jazz-centered early-1990s sound and paired naturally with Buggin' Out in its music video campaign. It remains one of A Tribe Called Quest's defining records and a central example of their jazz-sample aesthetic. Its Green Dolphin Street and Don't Change Your Love sources, Pete Rock acknowledgement, and widely remembered hook keep it prominent in Tribe retrospectives.
