Real Love

Built from a home demo recorded by John Lennon in New York around 1979, the track was completed by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr at McCartney's studio in Sussex in February 1995. Jeff Lynne produced the reunion recording, with the surviving Beatles adding guitars, bass, drums, percussion and backing vocals. Released in 1996 as the lead single from Anthology 2, the song reached number four on the UK Singles Chart. It was the second new Beatles recording created for the Anthology project and the only Beatles song credited solely to Lennon. The recording became a central document of the Beatles' 1990s reunion and extended Lennon's unfinished demo into an official group release. A new mix issued in 2025 further renewed attention to the Anthology-era recording.
