Waterfalls

Paul McCartney · 1980
Recording

McCartney recorded the song during June–July 1979 at his home studios in Sussex and Scotland, producing and engineering it himself. He performed the vocals, electric piano, synthesizers and acoustic guitar, with Eddie Klein assisting during mixing. Released as the second single from McCartney II, it reached number nine in Britain. Its sparse arrangement presented a gentler side of an album largely built around electronic experimentation. The song was included on the 2001 retrospective Wingspan: Hits and History. McCartney also selected it for his 2021 book The Lyrics, documenting its creation and personal importance.
