Amy Winehouse · 2003
Recording

Recorded at EMI Publishing Studios in London during the Frank sessions. Amy Winehouse is credited on the track alongside Luke Smith, with production by Winehouse and Jony Rockstar; Tom Elmhirst handled the mix and Timothy Hutton is credited in the original release’s personnel. Released in 2004 on Island, it became the highest-charting UK single from Frank, peaking at No. 57. Contemporary reviews singled it out as one of the album’s standout performances and a strong example of Winehouse’s emotional directness. It remains one of the defining songs from Frank and a recurring favorite in retrospectives on Winehouse’s early work. The song’s stark breakup narrative and poised vocal delivery have kept it central to discussions of her artistry.
