Front Parlour (Full Length Version)
Paul McCartney · 2011"Front Parlour" was recorded by Paul McCartney during the homemade McCartney II sessions in June and July 1979 at his home studio in Peasmarsh, Sussex and Spirit of Ranachan Studio in Campbeltown, Scotland. McCartney played bass, drums, guitars, keyboards and synthesizers and mixed the full-length version at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, with Eddie Klein assisting. The 5:17 Full Length Version preserves the original extended mix from the 1979 sessions, before the instrumental was shortened to 3:34 for McCartney II. It received its first official release on the 2011 deluxe Archive Collection edition. The full-length version expanded the documented picture of McCartney's experimental home-recording period, exposing more of the repetitive synthesizer and rhythm arrangement underlying the 1980 album cut. It remains part of the archival material associated with the reassessment of McCartney II's electronic experimentation.
