McCartney recorded the instrumental during his June–July 1979 home sessions in Sussex and Scotland, playing the synthesizers, keyboards, bass and drums himself. He handled production and recording, with Eddie Klein assisting on engineering and mixing. The track exemplified the synthesizer experiments that distinguished McCartney II from his recent work with Wings. Record Mirror's contemporary review found it whimsical, amusing and individual. The 2011 Archive Collection reissue restored its full-length version, revealing more of McCartney's original instrumental experiment.
