It was recorded during the sessions for Rest at Electric Lady Studios in New York, with Charlotte Gainsbourg working with French producer SebastiAn. The track opened the album and was issued as one of its early singles. It introduced Rest’s reflective childhood-and-time themes and marked Gainsbourg’s return with a full studio album after seven years. Critics highlighted its moody, symphonic pop sound as a strong opening statement for the record. It remains one of Rest’s signature tracks and was later reissued with a SebastiAn "On The Beat" remix. Its nursery-rhyme framing and hushed electronic production helped define the sound of Gainsbourg’s late-period recordings.
