Glow of Love
Change · 1978Recorded in Philadelphia for Love Committee’s 1978 album Law and Order, with the Baker-Harris-Young production team behind the session and the Sigma Sound studio crew on the date. The track featured the group’s Philly soul vocal approach over a disco arrangement built for the dance floor. It closed out Law and Order and stood out as one of the album’s strongest club tracks. At release it helped define the polished Philadelphia disco sound associated with Gold Mind and Salsoul’s late-1970s output. The song became a durable disco favorite and has been sampled repeatedly, including by Looney Tunes in 1989 and later dance producers. Walter Gibbons’ and Dimitri from Paris’s reworks helped keep it active in club culture long after its original release.
