Love Injection

Trussel recorded Love Injection for Elektra with the Virginia band lineup built around Larry Tynes, Michael Spratley, Hannon Lane, Ronald Smith, Veronica Jones, Michael Gray, Lynwood Jones, William McGee, and Lorenzo Maclin. Fred Wesley produced the recording, Allen Richardson served as producer and executive producer, and Steve Bruno mixed the single. Love Injection was Trussel's breakthrough single on Elektra in 1979. It reached number 23 on Billboard's R&B chart, number 11 on the U.S. dance chart, and number 43 on the UK singles chart. The record remained a specialist dance-floor favorite through disco and funk reissue culture. Its later visibility was reinforced by Positive Express's 1982 cover and DJ Dove's Really Injected.
